United Way 2-1-1 Program Manager and Impact Coordinator Job Description
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: United Way CEO
PAY: between $19.89-21.89/hourly
GENERAL DUTIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
Administrative
Responsible for overseeing and assisting the handling 2-1-1 calls and walk-ins with the 2-
1-1 resource specialist and directing inquiries to the proper resources;
Attends appropriate statewide meetings to develop the local United Way 2-1-1 in the
statewide 2-1-1 network as available;
Prepares presentation of met/unmet community needs for the annual UWOLC Allocation
hearings, board meetings, etc;
Seeks additional 2-1-1 funding, including corporate sponsorships, grants, designated
contributions, county and city funding, etc;
Database Management
Maintains overseeing the 2-1-1 resource specialist in keeping current database of referral
resources (using iCarol software); routinely and regularly updates changes for resource
listing. Annual update of all resources in data base;
Prepares directories and other database reports as determined by program and community
needs, including monthly, quarterly and yearly reports for the UWOLC Board of Directors
and the J.F Maddox Foundation;
Prepares reports of inquiries by category and number of people served; analyzes data
regarding community needs.
Other Duties
Schedules phone time, special project days, appointments, out-of-office activities, vacation
leave making sure that the 2-1-1 line will be covered during business hours;
Serves as a first call responder in the event of disaster;
Attends program related state or national training, with CEO’s approval;
Marketing
Attends appropriate community meetings to network and make community contacts;
makes program presentations to promote United Way 2-1-1 Referral Network, including
Inner Agency Hub, Women’s United; Safe;NM; InforMe; Anti-Human Trafficking;
Literacy Coalitions; and any other programs that contribute to the 2-1-1 community;
Utilizes brochures, posters, marketing materials to get the 2-1-1 name out into the
community with the goal of making it a household word;
Participates in health fairs and similar forums councils, and boards to promote 2-1-1 to all
communities in Lea County.
Resource Development
Strengthens existing relationships with organizations that assist people within the
community - that work with 2-1-1 - by scheduling time to visit with them, finding creative
ways to express gratitude for the relationship;
Plans and implements disaster management protocols for the 2-1-1 programs, developing
partnerships with city, county and human service organizations regarding 2-1-1's role in
the event of disaster;
Continually locates new resources, organizations, churches, programs, agencies within Lea
County that can be added to 2-1-1 resource list; develops professional relationships;
schedules time to visit with them.
Volunteer Development
Recruits viable in-house volunteers to be utilized when 2-1-1 staff is out of the office and
during community disaster or emergency situations.
Program Development
Conducts several seasonal in-house programs, including Cool Down Lea County; Warm
Up Lea County; Coat Drive, and 2-1-1 Day
Job Requirements
Minimum High School Diploma
Typing and filing capabilities
Computer experience, ability to learn custom software programs
2-1-1 related certifications to be obtained as required by UWOLC
Ability to plan and execute special events, luncheons, meetings
Some travel both in and outside of the state
Professional demeanor
Some light lifting, setting up for events
Personal Qualities:
Some knowledge of community resources in Lea County;
Effective communication skills;
Public speaking experience;
Excellent organizational / record keeping skills;
Ability to work well with all types of people, some of whom are in stressful situations;
Able to maintain confidentiality
